Scientists Develop New Technologies for "Russian Railways"

During the Joint Scientific Council of JSC "Russian Railways", scientists of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences presented a number of developments for railroad transport. Among the new projects, specialists of the company saw the technology of tunnels reconstruction with the help of nanomaterials, methods of contact wire control and other technologies.
"Russian Railways" is working with the Russian Academy of Sciences for many years concerning matters of industry development and modernization of country's railways. As one of the results of such cooperation, scientists developed an automated laser diagnostic system for mounted wheel sets. The system is designed to identify critical defects (wheel battering, faults in tightening, etc.) directly in the process of train movement.
Another example of cooperation is the development of various security systems for a 15 km-long Severomuysk tunnel. Scientists developed a special automated system, which includes more than 2500 different sensors monitoring temperature, humidity, train position and other indicators.
