New Rules Aimed at Increasing Flight Security are Officially Approved

The Russian government has approved the rules for the development and implementation of safety management systems for aircraft, as well as for data collection and analysis of hazards and risks that might endanger the safety of civil aircraft. New regulations also consider procedures of data storage and sharing. Dmitry Medvedev signed the corresponding decree.

The document was developed by the Ministry of Transport. It aims to improve the level of aviation security and to bring Russian legislation in line with international standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The text of the document was published on November 21 on the official government website. It is reported that the new rules will come into force in one year following its publication.

List of organizations that must follow the new rules:

  • Pilot schools;
  • Developers and manufacturers of civilian aircraft;
  • Transportation companies;
  • Organizations responsible for aircraft maintenance and flight navigation.
