Metro Emergency Vehicles Will Be Allowed To Take Dedicated Lanes

Moscow Department of Transportation and Road Transport infrastructure Development proposed to equalize the rights of Moscow Metro emergency rescue vehicles with other emergency services vehicles – fire engines, ambulance and police cars. This means that approximately one hundred vehicles engaged in elimination of subway accidents and participating in evacuation activities will be equipped with emergency lights and will be allowed to take dedicated lanes.
One hundred of the 400 vehicles of the specialized Moscow Metro transport base are being used for accident management and emergency repairs. Some of the vehicles already have distinctive visual signs – yellow body color and red stripes.
These vehicles have all the equipment necessary for the elimination of various accidents and elimination of technical problems. The opportunity to take dedicated lanes contributes to prompt emergency assistance delivery and restoration of train traffic.
Since Moscow Metro emergency vehicles belong to municipal field services, there is no need for introducing any amendments to the existing legislation.
