In 2015, the Moscow region is planning to launch a “Safe Region” system that will connect several thousands of surveillance cameras installed in residential areas, buses, shops and crowded places to the “112” system.
However, business owners, real estate developers and transport operators will have to pay for the installation of cameras. According to the Minister of Public Administration, Information Technology and Communications of the Moscow Region, Maksut Shadayev, the set of requirements for video surveillance organization will be added to the procedures on permitting the opening of markets, installation of market outlets and the sale of alcohol in the Moscow Region.
The exact number of cameras is yet to be announced, but it is already known that in order to analyze and store records, the governor’s situation center and the regional center of video information access will be created.
According to the authors of the idea, a video surveillance network connected to the "112" system will increase the efficiency of emergency services and will improve crime detection rates.
