Video Surveillance System Software from Cisco Will be Replaced by Domestic Alternatives in Moscow

City surveillance systems in Moscow and in government agencies will use software developed by domestic company “Netris”. Before the transition, the systems were powered by software developed by the American company Cisco.
Moscow mayor's office explained this decision by saying that the use of imported software causes problems with the extension of CCTV systems, since video surveillance software often needs customization for the needs of different city structures. The other reason is that the foreign software provider takes too much time to answer requests.
According to the head of Moscow Department of Information Technology Artem Yermolayev, currently, about 80-90% of Cisco Video Surveillance Manager software package was already replaced by domestic development.
Moscow video surveillance system consists of more than 120,000 cameras installed in the streets of Moscow, residential areas, and individual buildings. General maintenance expenditure is about 5 billion rubles a year.
