New transport strategy provides for increased security

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree approving the new edition of the Transport Strategy of The Russian Federation until 2030. The official document was published on the website of the government on June 20.

The "road map" is designed to meet the country's strategies for innovative development, development of the Arctic zone and national security plans until 2020.

New strategy provides for the formation of a single transport space, easy access to freight and transportation services for the population, realization of the country’s transit potential, reduction of transport impact on the environment, as well as for improvements in the transport system security.

To achieve the latter, the strategy envisages the creation of intelligent systems utilizing GLONASS and modern information communication technologies. The strategy also suggests strengthening of transport infrastructure protection and improving the level of emergency services effectiveness.
