New Emergency Rescue Service to Be Launched in Russia

New federal emergency rescue service (FERS) will soon be added to the structure of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation. 12 thousand specialists will be provided with special equipment for the work in extreme environment. The service will engage in elimination and prevention of emergency situations in Russia and the world. The service’s staff composition will include mountain rescue workers, fire brigade and military rescue units.
The Emergencies Ministry is tasked to develop and adopt a statement on the new emergency and rescue service within six months. FERS will be created on the base of existing rescue units across the country.
