More than 12 thousand video cameras provide Moscow's Central District security
According to the press service of the Prefecture of the Central Administrative District of Moscow, about 12,470 CCTV cameras are installed and connected to the system. Around 293 cameras are installed in popular public places; 1748 cameras are located on the yard territories. The largest number of CCTV systems was installed in the hallways of apartment buildings. About 90 CCTV cameras are installed near underground stations.
One of the tasks of surveillance cameras is to identify cases of illegal trade and combat such situations. Recorded video data helps the Ministry of Emergency Situations and provides unlimited entrance for special-purpose transportation on the way to the underground in the cases of emergency there.
In addition, 68 video cameras, which are located in the outer lobbies of 10 underground lines promote rapid response that helps to prevent violations. According to the Acting Prefect of the Central Administrative District of Moscow, Viktor Fuer, the main purpose of video surveillance systems - is not only mandatory warning in case of emergency situation, but the possibility of quick and professional response as well.
