Experts Estimate Damages From Cyber Attacks Sustained By Russian Companies

Every successful computer security hack makes small and medium-sized businesses lose an average of 780 thousand rubles. Such distressing conclusions were reported by experts at “Kaspersky Lab” and B2B International agency. The figure of damages rose by 64% in comparison with 2013. 

The study showed that successful hacker attacks led to forced downtimes, profit losses and additional expenses for professional services. In addition, it was discovered that almost all small and medium-sized businesses (98.5%) were subjected to cyberthreats at least once a year. 82% of study participants experienced the effects of internal threats at least once.

Experts explain excessive damage of a single cyberattack by the fact that hackers usually gained access to corporate information (42% of companies). In 34% of cases personal client information was stolen. As a result, two-thirds of small and medium-sized businesses were losing data due to internal and external threats.
