Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China are taking the first steps towards creating a common navigation space covering territory from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. In order to fulfil this task, two countries must first achieve harmonization of equipment standards for both navigation systems.

Alexander Bondarenko, head of the international branch of non-profit partnership GLONASS projects, told "Izvestia" that the company is currently searching for the appropriate format of the first joint projects. Commercial transport equipment regularly crossing the border of the two countries could become the pilot project. Russian and Chinese experts currently study the market and attract companies to develop this direction.

Joint projects in the field of microelectronics assume creation of commercial navigation receivers with guaranteed access to GLONASS and Beidou, even in case of blocking access to other navigation systems.

According to Izvestia, in August this year, vice-president of the Chinese state corporation "The Great Wall" Jao Chunchao declared Beijing’s readiness to lift restrictions on space application microelectronics export to Russia and to organize production based on the requests of the Russian side.

Experts believe that the combination of GLONASS and Beidou will improve the performance of navigation equipment.
