The State Will Spend More than 10 Billion Rubles on Road Safety of Novosibirsk within 5 Years

In order to ensure the safety of Novosibirsk roads, the state will allocate 10 billion rubles within 5 years. The money will be spent on the installation of surveillance cameras and dummy cameras, which, according to Sergey Titov, the Minister of Transport and the Public Road System of the region, should improve general discipline. The current work plan provides for the installation of highway lighting system, installation of new traffic signs, road marking, as well as for the development of safe pedestrian crossings.
It is reported that the document was approved during the regional government meeting, which took place on December 1.
Most of the funds will be provided by the Novosibirsk region - the region will allocate 9 billion rubles from the regional budget. 735 million rubles will be spent on the realization of the five –year program. Federal budget payments and private funding will complement the funding deficit. Sergei Titov has clarified that the funds generated from fines coming from non-compliance with traffic rules will also be taken into consideration.
According to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Transport, the implementation of the program will reduce road traffic casualty rate by 27%, while the number of accident victims will be reduced by 10% by 2020.Источник: novosibirsk.rusplt.ru
